introduction

A335 P91 alloy pipe is heat-resistant steel with pearlite structure. It has high thermal strength (δb≥440MPa) and oxidation resistance at high temperatures, and has certain hydrogen corrosion resistance.
P91 seamless alloy pipe steel is equivalent to the national standard 10Cr9Mo1VNb. It not only has high oxidation resistance and high temperature steam corrosion resistance, but also has good impact toughness, high and stable long-lasting plasticity and hot strength properties. When the service temperature is lower than 620°C, its allowable stress is higher than that of austenitic stainless steel. Above 550℃, the recommended design allowable stress is about twice that of T9 and 2.25Cr-1Mo steel.
A335 P91 heat-resistant alloy pipe is widely used. It can be used as steel pipes for high-temperature superheaters and reheaters of subcritical and supercritical boilers with wall temperatures <625°C, as well as high-temperature headers and steam pipes with wall temperatures <600°C. It can also be used as furnace tubes for nuclear power heat exchangers and petroleum cracking units.

Carbon equivalent is an important indicator for evaluating the welding performance of steel. For alloy steel, other alloying elements also have an important impact on weldability. The carbon equivalent of A335 P91 is calculated as follows:
CEQ=C+Mn/6+(Cr+V+Mo)/5+(Cu+Ni)/15=0.08+0.30/6+(8.0+0.18+0.85)/5 + 0.4 / 15 = 1.9627
Since the calculated carbon equivalent value is much greater than 0.45, this means that the welding performance of A335 P91 is relatively poor.
