What is the difference between T91 steel pipe and P91 alloy steel pipe?
T91 alloy boiler tube belongs to ASTM A213 and is used for ferritic and austenitic boiler superheater and heat exchanger seamless steel tubes. But for ASTM A335 P91 superheater tubes, they are targeting ferritic and alloy seamless steel tubes for high temperature service.
T91/P91 steel pipes can be used as steel pipes for high-temperature superheaters and reheaters in subcritical and supercritical boilers with wall temperatures ≤625°C, as well as high-temperature headers and steam pipes with wall temperatures ≤600°C. They can also be used as nuclear power heat exchangers and petroleum cracking. Steel for installing furnace tubes.
T91/P91 seamless steel pipe not only has high oxidation resistance and high temperature steam corrosion resistance, but also has good impact toughness and high and stable long-lasting plasticity and thermal strength properties. When the service temperature is lower than 620°C, its allowable stress is higher than that of austenitic stainless steel. Above 550°C, the recommended design allowable stress is approximately twice that of T9 and 2.25Cr-1Mo steel.
