I believe many people now have stainless steel containers at home. Why stainless steel containers are favored by so many people is because it does not rust and is very resistant to high temperatures.
It is also very convenient to clean, but we must distinguish between 316 and 304 stainless steel when purchasing. Although they are both stainless steel, there is still a big difference.
Let me introduce to you what is the difference between 316 stainless steel and 304 stainless steel?
The difference between 304 and 316 stainless steel:
1. Difference in usage
Both 304 and 316 have reached food grade, but 304 stainless steel is usually used in our household appliances and household containers, while 316 stainless steel is generally used in the production of medical equipment and tools. Our family's containers are enough to reach 304, so if a merchant says his container is 316, he is lying to you.
2. Corrosion resistance
304 steel is resistant to corrosion such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, potassium acid, urea, etc., and is suitable for situations where general water, controlled gas, wine, milk, CIP cleaning fluid, etc. are not very corrosive or are not in contact with materials.
316 adds corrosion resistance on the basis of 304, which can significantly improve its ability to resist intergranular corrosion and oxide stress corrosion, and reduce the tendency to heat during welding. It also has good resistance to aluminum chloride corrosion. Therefore, the higher the chloride ion content, the better the corrosion resistance of 316. Due to the addition of molybdenum, 316 stainless steel has a special corrosion-resistant structure and is more resistant to chloride corrosion. Also used as "marine steel".
3. Price difference
316 has added molybdenum and nickel, so the price is a little higher than 304.
Advantages of stainless steel pipes:
1. It is relatively resistant to high temperatures. 304 and 316 stainless steel are better than ordinary stainless steel. They can withstand high temperatures up to 800 degrees and are suitable for various places.
2. Anti-corrosion. Both 304 and 316 have chromium added, which makes them chemically stable and basically not corroded. Some people use 304 stainless steel as anti-corrosion material.
3. It has high toughness and can be processed into different products with very good quality.
4. Low lead content. The lead content of 304 and 316 stainless steel is extremely low and will not cause any harm to the human body, so it is called food stainless steel.
How to prevent stainless steel from rusting?
Generally, 304 and 316 stainless steel are not easy to rust. Be careful not to soak stainless steel containers in salt water for a long time. It won't rust. If stainless steel encounters chloride ions, it will cause corrosion, so try to avoid contact with salt, seawater, etc.
