Casing is used to support the walls of oil and gas wells and ensure the normal operation of the entire well after the drilling process is completed. Each well uses multiple layers of casing based on different drilling depths and geological conditions. After the casing is lowered, cement consolidation is required. It is different from oil pipes and drill pipes and cannot be reused. It is a disposable material. Therefore, the consumption of casing accounts for more than 70% of all oil well pipes.

According to the strength of the steel itself, casing can be divided into different steel grades, namely J55, K55, N80, L80, C90, T95, P110, Q125, V150, etc. Depending on the well conditions and well depth, the steel types used are also different. The housing itself also requires corrosion resistance in corrosive environments. In places with complex geological conditions, the casing is also required to have anti-fragmentation properties.
