AISI Stainless Steel 321 is an austenitic alloy similar to the 304 grade, but with more than five times the amount of titanium as its carbon content, it enhances its corrosion resistance. It has excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion after exposure to chromium carbide precipitation in the 800-1500°F temperature range.
It exhibits higher creep and stress rupture properties than 304 and 304L grades, is oxidation resistant up to 1500°F, and retains good toughness at low temperatures. This material cannot be hardened by heat treatment, only by cold working. It is easy to machine and weld with standard manufacturing practices.
321 seamless pipe is widely used in chemical processing, pharmaceutical production, food processing, aerospace, petroleum refining and other fields. It is known for its excellent corrosion resistance compared to 304 stainless steel. ASTM A312 TP321 This material is easy to form and draw, but requires higher pressures and may experience more springback than ferritic stainless steels and carbon steels. It hardens rapidly during machining and may be annealed after vigorous shaping.
